The college years. The often eluded to dream years that those who came before you reminisce about over bottle sized glasses of wine. They truly are the best years. I never thought I would go to college, and as a first generation college graduate I am so thankful that I did. Here is why college will be the best years of your life (at least until you have the cutest baby in the world).
Time is 100% IRRELEVANT. So you have a 20 page paper due in a week? Don't matter, you got time. What day is it? Taco Tuesday or Wing night Wednesday and that is as much as you need to know...time moves slow and fast all at once in college.
You get to hold off being a real adult for at least 4 more years. No one expects a college student to adult. The bar is set so low. Take off your pants, climb into that mountain of blankets, order a pizza, and nurse your hangover darlin. So make that 2liter long island and whip out the slip in slide. Be wreckless (within reason), go on adventures, and laugh much.
You make friends that will have your back the rest of your life. The friends we made in college were some of the best friends. You hold their hair, get each other home safe, help eachother cram for exams, and share endless adventures.
All the shenanigans. Last nights shenanigans turn into memories that will be told over the above mentioned bottle sized wine glasses. Every night is a party and don't feel sorry about it.
It is the only time you will be able to walk to your friends house. Take advantage of this one. Guys nights, girls nights. Survivor, football, or Bachelor. Helping mend a broken heart, or having a last minute party. It can all happen because on a college campus nothing is too far away.
That weekend long party doesn't phase you. Hang overs are a thing of the future, and since you don't have to adult yet, they are not your problem. You bounce right back in time for Taco Tuesday.
You find yourself. You learn more about who you want to be and what drives you. Your professors and friends will push you to get it together and pursue your dreams. You form your own opinions on the world and what you believe in.
And as always GO COUGS!
