I'm not sure if it is a 90's kid thing, but growing up I had a serious love for pizza pockets. As in the horrible for you, hot pocket, microwave it, p i z z a p o c k e t. Every once in a while I get a random craving for them, but I like to think I'm slightly more health conscious as an adult...that and they are not cheap for having basically no nutritional value. The other day I realized we had a perfect storm of ingredients to make my own at home. This way I knew exactly what I was putting in them, and because I found pie dough for $1 they cost pennies to make. I froze about a dozen, and they have been great for my husband to take to work. The one thing I was bummed about was the sauce. I couldn't quite figure out how the inside is so saucey and delicious...but let's be real...it's most likely the fake cheese in them.

What You Need:

1-2 Refrigerated pie doughs, or even better make some homemade dough!

1 Package thick cut ham, or diced ham

2 Cups shredded cheddar (or you can slice off a block)

1 Egg

1 Tblsp Water

Garlic salt for sprinkling the tops

Dijon Mustard to taste (I would leave this out, but my husband loved it.)

Tupperware Hand Pie press found HERE

Instructions:

1. Foil and spray cookie sheet with non-stick grease, set aside

2. Mix egg and water in bowl for egg wash, set aside

3.Roll out dough onto lightly floured surface

4. Press bottom of Tupperware into dough like a cookie cutter to get your circle. Place dough on top side gently.

5. Fill with cheese, ham, and optional mustard or sauce. Do NOT over fill, dough will tear.

6. Press Tupperware carefully together until a pocket is formed, and set on cookie sheet.

7. Baste with egg wash

8. Sprinkle with garlic salt.

BAKE at 400 for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown
