Growing up I had an old wicker suitcase in my closet. It was filled with keepsakes. Mostly cards from friends and family, but some notes and pictures found their way in as well. My card keeping habit drives my husband nuts. I personally think I could have worse quarks, and to me this one is justified. My Grandpa lived in the South and we saw him not nearly as much as I would have liked. In all my years of childhood, and even well into adulthood, he never once forgot a birthday or holiday. I always got a card from him with a sweet note in messy cursive handwriting that could only be from someone of his age. I loved that they smelled of him. I loved that I could hear his voice when I read each note, and I loved that I was important enough to always remember. So I began keeping any card with a meaningful note in it.
When I was pregnant with Mason I realized keeping every card our little family ever got would be a little over the top. As much as I wanted to store them to read back later, I decided against it, and began brainstorming ways to keep them without having piles of cards. This was the end result, and I love it. I cut out hearts from each card, trying to maintain my favorite parts of a note or at least a signature. This particular one hangs in Mason's nursery as a reminder to us of all the people that thought of him, love him, and were excited for us to start our family.

All you need to hold onto your keepsakes is a canvas, scissors, and glue!!
